Even a Child ....
Proverbs 20:11
Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.
I have stubborn children. That is not necessarily a good trait I realize. We usually hurt ourselves the most with our stubbornness. I can think of many times I backed myself into a situation that only being stubborn kept me in. In hindsight, I can honestly say what being stubborn cost me was not worth it. Stubbornness often interferes in our relationship with God; it can keep us from being saved and once we are, it can keep us from being what we are supposed to be. No, being stubborn is not good. But determination is good. And stubbornness can be dialed back into determination with a lot of training, prayer, and enough hard knocks.
While I was struggling to raise my hardheaded crew, there were many things about them I was grateful for. They all had amazing, kind, and compassionate hearts. They still do. They also were not deceitful. . I watched children who acted one way in front of their parents be cruel to other children when they thought no one was looking. And I watched my children take up for those children and befriend them.
The inventions of your heart shows even when you think you are hiding it. No matter what you say you are or are not, your true self is known by what you do. Be sure that what you say you are is what is really in your heart, then your actions will match.
