God's Word Trumps Political Correctness
Updated: Nov 28, 2020
Christians are often accused of judging others. And while everyone, even Christians, can fall into that judgmental trap, usually that is not the case. Usually when a born-again Christian shares with you what the Bible says, they are sharing truth and they are sharing it out of concern. No one likes to hear truth when it points out correction in their own life.
Note that I said born again Christian. That’s because many people identify as Christian because their grandmother attended a protestant church, they have some head knowledge of God, or they don’t identify as some religion that worships another god. But that isn’t the same thing as someone who has a heart knowledge of Jesus, who has accepted Him as their personal Savior, who trusts and has a true relationship with Him.
So today, I’m going to be talking to Christians… both those who are truly born again but may be misguided and those that call themselves that but are not. I can know of no one’s salvation but my own. But as the old saying goes, sometimes we are fruit inspectors.
Matthew 7:16-20 King James Version (KJV) 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
Sadly I know people that profess salvation BUT
never darken the door of a church –
Hebrews 10:25 (KJV)
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching
Romans 10:17 (KJV)
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God ;
live exactly like the world -
1 John 2:15 (KJV) Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him;
and support ideas and lifestyles that are contrary to the Bible -
2 Timothy 3: 16-17 (KJV)
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works,
Psalm 119: 105 ( KJV)
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
James 1: 22 (KJV) But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
Luke 11: 28 (KJV) But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.
I know that even the most devout can fall. I know this because I've fallen myself. The Bible warns us that our adversary is going to and fro seeking to devour us. I'm not talking about someone who has truly given their heart to the Lord and are in a prodigal season, I’m talking about someone who has never had any change in their life. Someone who is and has always been unconcerned with the things of God, who blatantly says they are a Christian in one sentence and then supports that which is ungodly in the next. If you fall in that category, I’m not judging you, I’m telling you that you don’t line up with what God’s Word says and begging you to check your heart before it’s too late.
And if you fall into the category that I’ve been in myself, saved but fallen away, I’m begging you, prodigal child, to come home. Your eternity may be secure, but you will have no peace in this life living this way. But most importantly, you are leading your loved ones to heaven or hell. Don’t forget the ten virgins and the wheat and the tares. There will be those whose fruit isn’t so easy to see and those that will go to hell straight from a church pew.
We’ve already established that the Word of God is inspired and true and that we are to follow it. To do that, we must read it. That is the guideline, the moral compass for our lives, not popular opinion and not even our own opinions and emotions. If you say that you love God and you believe in Him, then you believe 100% in the Bible. There is no in between.
Revelation 3:16 (KJV) So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth
You either believe or you don’t. It’s that simple. You don’t get to pick and choose.
