Taking Care of the Poor

Psalm 41

1 Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.

2 The Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.

3 The Lord will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness

We think of poor as being without money for food, shelter, clothing, transportation, healthcare, or anything else that we consider a necessity. Poor is also those that are poor in spirit, those that are lonely, those that are discouraged. Anyone in any kind of need is poor. The greatest need any of us have is the need of salvation. The poorest person is the one without Christ. When we consider the poor, God promises certain things to us in these three verses. He will take care of us, keep us, bless us, deliver us from our enemies, strengthen us, and see us through sicknesses. The greatest thing we can do is share Jesus.
