Through Faith Alone

Ephesians 2

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

What could you do to earn your way into heaven? Absolutely nothing. None of us could ever be good enough or do enough to make it into heaven on our own. It is a gift. It is freely offered and freely given. But that doesn’t mean you get this gift if you haven’t asked for it nor does it mean you should live the way you want after you’ve received it. If you have been born again, you need to live so that others can see Jesus in you. You should have a desire to see others come to the saving knowledge of Jesus and you should desire the peace that comes with living in His will. I believe in eternal salvation, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be hard consequences for those who are not obedient. It’s also important to understand that not everyone will go to Heaven. Only those who respond to the call. I urge you to be sure of your salvation and I urge you to live in obedience once you have received salvation. I also urge you to rejoice in the knowledge that you don’t have to earn it, it has been given!
