Wake Up!

Jonah 1: 5
Then the mariners were afraid, and cried every man unto his god, and cast forth the wares that were in the ship into the sea, to lighten it of them. But Jonah was gone down in the sides of the ship; and he lay and was fast asleep.
The sailors were in such fear of over the state of the sea, that they tried everything they could think of to change their situation. They threw off extra weight and called on their gods. But Jonah, both the man of God and the cause of the storm, slept. He wasn’t sleeping because his faith was so strong that he was at peace. He was in the midst of disobedience. He was asleep because he was so far removed from where he should be he was clueless as to what was going on or that he was the cause of it.
Isn’t that today’s Christian? Our disobedience has us so out of tune with God that we don’t even recognize where our world is or that we are what brought it to that state by blending so well into the world. But Jonah faced something that caught his attention, and he had another chance to be obedient. We believers need to wake up and not miss our last chance!
