What Will Your Rebellion Cost You?

What will your rebellion cost you?

What is witchcraft? Witchcraft is the use of sorcery or magic or communication with the dead. Rebellion is the act of resisting. So why does the Bible say rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft and stubbornness as iniquity and idolatry?

We are to put God first above ALL things. Anything we place above Him, including our own will, is an idol. And any spirit that we are listening to besides the Holy Spirit is the wrong spirit.

Rebellion against God aligns us with the one who was kicked out of Heaven.

Rebellion against God covers many things. It can be huge things such as denying He is God, rejecting His Son, ignoring His call. But it can also be small things, such as not heeding the call to pray, skipping church, continuing to hang out with or date the people He has told us to cut out of our lives.

We tend to justify our rebellion. Christians don’t need to date unbelievers. The Bible is clear on being unequally yoked (Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 2 Corinthians 6:14) But we make excuses to do what we want to do… God wants me to be happy, maybe I’ll lead him to Christ, etc.

Should you hang out at that party even though you aren’t partaking of the immoral activities going on there? You may want to tell yourself that Jesus hung out with the sinners, but the Bible says abstain from the very appearance of evil.

God told Saul to utterly destroy Amalek and every living thing in it. But Saul didn’t kill the king, Agag. He also didn’t kill the best of the animal. He saved those for sacrifice. I'm sure Saul justified his disobedience just as we do. Disobedience, no matter what the justification, is rebellion.

And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. I Samuel 15: 22

What was the result of Saul’s rebellion? He lost his kingdom.
